What is a Potager?

Our site is in Maries County, MO --named for the Maries River; 'Maries' is derived from the French marais, which means marsh, lake or pond. A Potager is rooted in French culture, history, art, and poetic design (potager means Jardin des Legumes / Kitchen Garden).  A Potager is a well-designed space with visual appeal for growing food that nourishes the body and feeds the soul.  It is the art and heart of our agrarian lifestyle; a self-sufficient food enterprise elegantly presented from seed to table.   It is a philosophy of living in harmony with nature -- it has a serene meditative and healing quality. The Potager is designed to bring abundant joy to both the gardener and the cook. Passion for great food begins with love and appreciation for growing, preserving, and wild crafting natures gifts.  It serves as the central feature of an all-season landscape.

The integration of arbors and art among the edible flowers, culinary herbs, fruits and vegetables enhance the garden's romantic appeal.

In both our agriculture and yoga business models we use the safest ingredients to promote a healthy environment. We use products and services that are clean and fair; good for the planet, good for the health and welfare of people, and humane to animals. We utilize products that are fair trade, and support / protect fresh air and clean water.

We grow fresh food for our community, wellness tourism and Feast in the Forest Teaching Kitchen.
